• Question: why do we buy trash bags to just throw them away?

      I think we as consumers have been pushed to believe it is necessary

      I can’t think of an exact reason. In theory it sounds ridiculous. But I assume they were invented for handiness sake – it would be very messy and difficult to manage the rubbish from a household without some sort of container to move it about. Can you imaging carrying handfuls of eggshells down to the local dump? Mess!

      To make everything a lot less messy as Clare said!

      In hospitals for example this is very important in terms of contamination, infections and separating different kinds of trash (chemicals, domestic etc.)

      Good question! We probably shouldn’t but that’s the system we have at the moment. Hopefully in future we’ll find a way to make almost no rubbish, in the meantime: reduce, reuse, recycle!

      here in Scotland we get charged 5p for each bag this has made many people here to reuse our bags or even buy lifetime bags!
