In high school I wanted to study geology then I found geophysics to be a more interesting subject. I guess I was about 14 when I decided that lol.

After my A-levels and when I finished my army service. My first experience of medical physics was when I did my A-level physics. I found it really exciting! The idea of using physics and science in hospitals to help patients is what inspired me !

I don’t think I knew until I ended up in the job that I’m in. I just kept picking subjects that I enjoyed and eventually ended up here!

During my A-levels, the science ones were the ones I most enjoyed so I knew I wanted to carry on with science. Like Clare says though, often its not something you make a conscious decision about, you just follow the things that interest you!
