I think it’s important that you need to get on with people. You will always need to work in a team, so if you can get on together then it will be easy to get on with work.

But of course in life.. sometimes people don’t like each other! In my opinion if you don’t like someone then you must still be able to work with them professionally or its a nightmare situation!

But if people like you then I think it helps!

      Great question!

Working in the NHS means that you have to work with people with many different specialisms and backgrounds from doctors, nurses, pharmacists, accountants, radiographers, porters and domestic cleaners etc. Of course you spend most of the time working with people who do the same thing as you do.

I think it is good to get along with everyone! Whether they like you is not a very big issue and it shouldn’t be.

Getting along with you colleagues is always a good thing and makes things a lot more easier! For me personally to be honest I wouldn’t like not to get along with someone or someone to dislike me so I would say that I try and make it work.

As I said it just makes it so much easier!

I think everybody likes to be liked, but it’s not the most important thing. I do think sometimes people at work are afraid to tackle difficult situations because they don’t want to upset people. In my job the most important thing is patient safety, and I wouldn’t worry too much about being liked if I thought something needed to be done if it resulted in me not being liked! That said, you should always try to do things tactfully.
