Any work that I have personally done has not saved any lives.

But I hope and wish that one day I will discover or help discover something that will do.

Although I haven’t saved a life like a doctor or nurse could in an Accident and Emergency department I believe that in our department (Nuclear Medicine) as a team we help save lives on a daily basis.

no, not yet. unfortunately I work more behind the scenes and my research might help in about 10 years’ time.

Not my work on it’s own. But collectively the work medical physics does has a definite role in saving lives.

It’s difficult to say for certain, but my work probably does save lives. If people did not receive timely, effective care then their cancer would progress and they may die from this.

The important thing to remember is it’s always a team effort of doctors, radiographers, nurses, porters, secretaries and your friendly medical physicist too 🙂
